Your world is a myth built by your mind

What you see isn’t real. It’s a projection stimulating your senses and neurological responses, making you believe that it’s real.

And then, unconsciously, you begin to tell story after story until what isn’t real appears unshakably real and you forget what is truly real. What about reality?

Your mind perpetuates what it begins

Your focus deepens where you place it. The whole thing works like a magnetic vortex, have you noticed? One thought follows another until a massive construct emerges that seems real. It’s hard to get out once you’re in it because you believe in what your mind creates. It’s all too easy to forget that everything originated in your thoughts in the first place. It’s one of your own ideas that seduces you into believing what you currently perceive is all there is.

Each thought adds more of itself onto itself. It builds clusters, houses, cities, planets, and universes from imagined dreams appearing to be real. Unless you interrupt your tangle of layers of thought, you won’t see the truth behind all these gigantic mazes of the mind.

You live in myths and fantasies

They are beautiful, aren’t they? It’s so easy to believe them and to get distracted from what is clear, eternal, and pure. Because it’s so simple that it holds no allure. And yet, this is what is most desired by every breathing being on this planet.
Only a few attain it because most are unwilling to resist the temptations and remain pure. Boring, you think. Lifeless and empty. But the opposite is true.

It’s just that the stories with their bittersweet flavour and emotional richness tug at the heartstrings so much more. All the promises that may never be fulfilled, the carrots dangling in front of your nose, luring you. Who would want to resist?

This picture was taken on my first flight to Ecuador on the 6th of December 2013, above the Pyrenees. After a layover in Madrid, I headed across the ocean.

Is it really so much easier?

Is it really so much easier to believe in the bubbles of promises than to know that all you’ve ever wanted is already there? It lives inside you, right at your core. It’s you.

We like to think we have to reach somewhere, chase something, or do a lot of things to be rewarded. We think we’re unworthy if we don’t prove our worth. We think we’re flawed if we don’t play the game, and we cover up mistakes that never actually existed.

You are already home, my love

There is nothing to seek except a deeper experience of exactly that (the feeling of home). But it’s not a search. It’s a sinking into the homecoming.

Come home. At last.
Be home. Within yourself. Right here and now.
